Your child is learning and developing all the time, gaining in both confidence and ability. Introducing your child to our nursery environment they will continue to do so through experiencing a variety of activities, situations and challenges that may not be available to them within the home.

Your child will gain a stronger sense of self, understanding their own personal boundaries, likes and dislikes and they will be given the opportunity to form, and in turn, voice their opinions, to build and test friendships and make mistakes in a reassuring environment.

Whilst in our care your child will learn new songs and games, experiment with a variety of wonderfully messy, creative activities, find new books, build fantastic creations – then  break them up, dig for treasure in the sand tray, learn numbers, colours, shapes, letters, splash in the water tray, dress up as a fireman or a fairy and anything else their imagination or interest has room for!

As with all quality childcare providers we ensure that our staffing levels exceed the minimum number of designated by Ofsted and our ratios are never compromised.

Our Approach

Nursery education is about challenging children and encouraging them to enjoy learning, to develop into motivated thinkers and learners and full of curiosity for the world around them. At Woodroyd Nursery we provide experiences that will extend and enrich children’s understanding of the world.

Children enter the nursery with a variety of knowledge and skills based on their personal experiences. We believe that children learn best when they are interested and motivated. We work with individual children’s interests and needs to provide a wide range of experiences to help them grow and develop.

Policy

Our policy is to provide high quality, safe and inclusive childcare that has regard for the themes and commitments of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

We have a commitment to building positive relationships in partnership with Parents/Carers and working closely with other agencies such as Ofsted, Local Authority, Vision Support and the Speech and Language Team to ensure that all children in our care are receiving the best possible start to life.

Our expectation is that we will provide an enabling environment, both inside and out, offering a wide variety of experiences and activities to help all children develop to their full potential during their time with us.

In order to ensure the children’s learning and development needs are met, we undertake planning using the principles of The Early Years Foundation Stage and ensure that all planning is flexible allowing for spontaneity and for the ideas of the children to be explored as these are paramount in their continued all round development.

Governing Body

The Board of Directors is made up of parents and representatives from the  community as well as members of partner agencies such as health, education and Better Start. The Board is also supported by our Finance Officer and Nursery Manager.

The Board meets a minimum of 4 times each year to review progress of its work and ensure the goals and finances of the organisation are maintained. Board members are asked to make decisions that affect development of the nursery and its services.
